With its blend of boldness and easy elegance, t<\/span>his townhouse perfectly illustrates the <\/span>design<\/span> language of British interior designer Kelly Hoppen<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

What started out as <\/span>an artist’s studio, characterised by<\/span> an<\/span> impressive roof height, called from a complete redesign<\/span>. The living room is organised around the James sofa (designed by Andrea Parisio for Meridiani) and a coffee table, <\/span>crafted<\/span>using an ancestral technique called <\/span>scagliola<\/span>, which imitates marble and stone (designed by McCollin Bryan). <\/span>A<\/span> Crown side table from 101 Copenhagen<\/span>stands between the Pacha armchairs (reissued by Pierre Pualin, from Gubi)<\/span>. In the entrance hall, <\/span>the <\/span>eye is immediately drawn to the <\/span>sculptural console table (Morgan model, designed by Kelly Hoppen) with a base composed of geometric blocks<\/span>.<\/span> P<\/span>ivoting screens elegantly conceal the structural posts and <\/span>lend greater <\/span>intimacy <\/span>to<\/span> the space.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>comprehensive<\/span> remodel<\/span>l<\/span>ing<\/span> softens the industrial feel of the original architecture, <\/span>sets off<\/span> the interior spaces <\/span>to perfection <\/span>and introduces new textures and finishes. The metal framework and old dark-coloured woodwork have been <\/span>toned down<\/span>. On the ground floor, a light, neutral paint colour <\/span>has been<\/span> chosen (Slaked Lime Mid, by Little Greene). The carefully designed lighting highlights the existing beams, while <\/span>sleek<\/span> furniture adds balance and elegance. The steel structures and panelling under the roof have been painted white to create a brighter and <\/span>more welcoming<\/span> environment<\/span>. The home has been imbued with<\/span> a new soul, in line with the clients’ desire to create a <\/span>warmer, more comfortable<\/span> space. In the kitchen, the marble island contrasts with dark wood storage units. <\/span>For t<\/span>he b<\/span>ar stools<\/span>, the designer went for<\/span> the<\/span> Polo model by Robert <\/span>Langford. On the rug (Lema), <\/span>a <\/span>vintage Groovy armchair, designed by Pierre Paulin<\/span> has been arranged next to a<\/span> Nanded side table (House Doctor at Nordic Nest).<\/span><\/p>\n

In the office, as <\/span>is the case throughout the property<\/span>, the colours seem to <\/span>revolve around <\/span>Pantone’s colour of the year for 2026<\/span>. Dubbed <\/span>Cloud Dancer, a soothing off-white<\/span>, the name i<\/span>s <\/span>also <\/span>a nod<\/span> to Daniel Campos, a famous American dancer and choreographer, a<\/span>nd to<\/span> a 1980s aviation film. This airy, slightly creamy shade evokes <\/span>a sense of <\/span>calm and serenity<\/span> in line with a yearning for<\/span> peace and reflection. Its versatility allows it to structure colour palettes, accentuate pastels or enrich natural tones, and create elegant contrasts with dark shades, black and brown. On the left, <\/span>the <\/span>Loloey rug, designed by Kelly Hoppen. Simpliciter armchairs, designed by Antonio Citterio for Maxalto. Faringdon floor lamp, from Vaughan. The master bedroom has <\/span>undergone a major reconfiguration to overcome the problem of its<\/span> awkward layou<\/span>t<\/span>. It now boasts two dressing rooms, a large bathroom and a spectacular 4-metre-high bay window (<\/span>sourced from <\/span>Crittall), while a window on the street side, which was previously concealed, has been restored<\/span> to its former glory<\/span>. Functional lighting <\/span>has been fitted in keeping with the flow of<\/span> everyday activities <\/span>by incorporating <\/span>spotlights into the architecture, <\/span>with <\/span>indirect lighting and mood lighting <\/span>added to<\/span> create different atmospheres. The bed (Doreen Scott and C&C Milano) is equipped with bedside tables, custom-made by a carpenter. Next to the Groovy armchair (designed by Pierre Paulin) is the Rona side table, composed of stacked discs, designed by Andrew Martin. <\/span>The <\/span>Oyster Ceiling pendant light<\/span> is<\/span> the work of<\/span> Gareth Devonald Smith. Circular wall lights in alabaster and brushed brass by Beran, designed by Bert Frank<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The minimalist bathroom space <\/span>has been treated <\/span>with a coating that envelops the floor and walls, <\/span>creating<\/span> an immersive experience that blends Eastern and Western influences. <\/span>An impression of <\/span>understated luxury <\/span>has been <\/span>produced thanks to <\/span>the use of fine<\/span>, high-quality<\/span> materials, such as the wood <\/span>chosen<\/span> for the bathroom furniture. In keeping with the \u2018News Neutrals\u2019 spirit, Kelly Hoppen’s palette combines natural, light and timeless shades of chalk, plaster, sand and pebble in a subtle monochrome to accentuate the feeling of space, light and relaxation. The marble basin top (Oka model, from 101 Copenhagen) is inspired by traditional Japanese serving trays. The XXL walk-in shower spans the entire width of the space. Its transparent glass walls allow light from the window to pass through and accentuate the depth of the room, encouraging central circulation. Curved bathtub and white stone bathtub bridge, from Lusso.<\/span><\/p>\n

A dressing table <\/span>complete <\/span>with a <\/span>vanity mirror<\/span> and drawers for <\/span>convenient <\/span>storage <\/span>manages to contrive<\/span> a <\/span>contemporary boudoir<\/span> vibe<\/span>. The floor-to-ceiling mirror enlarges the space. It is framed by two wall lights in bronze and aged brass (Covex model, from Porta Romana). The fabric <\/span>upholstered <\/span>pouffe features beautiful finishes with topstitching and a light<\/span>weight<\/span>, suspended seat on a cylindrical base (Florin model from The Sofa & Chair Company). <\/span>The shelves, fully integrated into this <\/span>custom-made design, <\/span>showcase <\/span>black and white ceramic pieces<\/span>,<\/span> add<\/span>ing<\/span> a decorative touch: Pirout vase from Nordic Nest, Vio bowl from Gazar and Duck Jar box, designed by Nicolaj N\u00f8ddesbo and Tommy Hyldahl, from 101 Copenhagen.<\/span><\/p>\n
