De Japandi-stijl pleit voor het concept van <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Danshari<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> en \u2018less is more\u2019. Wat is precies het idee erachter? Dat het zaak is jezelf van overtollige zaken te bevrijden om je geest te kalmeren. Het doel is niet om van elk voorwerp af te komen, maar om alleen het wezenlijke te behouden: decorstukken en meubels die rust en kalmte uitstralen, maar in het dagelijks leven ook nuttig en functioneel zijn. Afstand doen van materialisme ten behoeve van een eenvoudiger leven: een Japanse filosofie om te voorkomen dat je voorwerpen en (soms negatieve) herinneringen blijft verzamelen.
