LET’S GO OUTSIDE

In 2025, outdoor spaces are no longer an afterthought, but fully-fledged living spaces where comfort, design and sustainability come together. Trends are moving towards flexible outdoor settings, with furniture that combine aesthetics and weather resistance – with no compromise. No excessive luxury, just thoughtful minimalism staking its claim: light, understated and functional – with an eye for detail and harmony with the environment.

The garden glamour of the Erica ‘25 collection by B&B Italia is a strong example, with its combination of refined Italian design and smart outdoor solutions. Their aluminium frames are light, strong and powder-coated for maximum durability as well as wind and weather resistance. The backrests are woven with UV-resistant polypropylene straps in elegant, layered shades that add visual depth.

From straight benches to gently curved models, to a generous daybed with a high back and integrated headrest – Erica ‘25 offers seating solutions for every outdoor space. The cushions have a casually soft look, are generously filled, feature decorative piping and are upholstered in high-quality fabrics in a wide range of colours. It’s a collection that stands out for its subtlety – robust yet refined.

Subtly becoming one

In 2025, Scandinavian style will return to our patios. Expect light shades with a warm undertone, not minimalism. Think sand, lime and pale stone: colours that bring tranquillity and that blend perfectly with greenery. These naturally nuanced palettes give lounge sets a modern yet soft look. Minotti’s response to this style trend is the Amii collection, which features rounded shapes and light fabrics. Vincent van Sofa Company mixes Scandi design with comfort, while Manutti adds organic textures and subtle colours with its Muyu sofas.

DON’T FORGET WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT

Wood is and remains a timeless element in outdoor furniture. Bolia’s modular Patio collection seamlessly integrates (FSC®) teak into dining and lounge concepts for any outdoor space. Poliform’s Ketch sofa showcases a flexible backrest supported by a solid iroko construction – a durable wood treated with hydro-oils to preserve its beauty over time. And with Levante, Piero Lissoni is putting a complete outdoor teak collection on the map for Roda.

Matière à réflexion

It’s the season for it, so don’t be shy about making your outdoor space an extension of yourself with fabrics that reflect your style perfectly. Royal Botania is adding six newcomers to its range: from three pastel colours – soft blue, old pink and light green, which you can also use to cover your parasol frame – to an olive-green shade or an outdoor fabric in a pebble or sand blend. And Roche Bobois creates a dream setting with their colourful, modular Temps Calme Outdoor collection, a minimalist and weatherproof design by Philippe Bouix.

A place at top table for dining tables

There’s a sleight of hand in store in 2025: outdoor tables will become architectural statements. Pedrali’s TOA collection manifests this trend with a mix of materials that floats ultra-thin, six-millimetre ceramic tops on asymmetrical aluminium bases. The ingenious connection system invisibly provides structural integrity without visual interruption – including a precise colour-matched powder coatings with a matte finish that repels fingerprints.

From functional object to sculptural centrepiece: &tradition’s Thorvald Collection embodies this outdoor dining table trend with silhouettes that use light and shadow as design materials, inspired by neoclassicist Bertel Thorvaldsen. Cosentino’s Dekton® outdoor worktops are not only aesthetically pleasing and wear-resistant, they also offer high UV resistance. While Forma&Cemento’s Laoban table, with its three-part UHPC concrete top on sturdy legs, comfortably seats ten people.

Retro italian vibe

Outdoor furniture trends for 2025 embrace colour. What are we craving? Cosimo de Medici’s collection by Belgian duo Muller Van Severen, presented at Salone del Mobile, produced and released by Tectona. Their geometric designs dialogue with the historic Villa Medici citrus garden in Rome. Poltronova is fully signed up to this colour revolution with exuberant textiles, while Paola Lenti introduces texture variations that add depth to solid colours.

The art of relaxed idleness

Fancy doing less? This year, daybeds turn any garden or poolside into a private resort with understated flair. SNOC’s take on this is designs that combine comfort and class. The collection by Junpei & Iori Tamaki is an interplay between simplicity and natural materials. Their Link series excels in contrasting rope-wrapped elements and sleek frame structures, upholstered in all-weather fabrics and timeless neutral tones. Sheer perfection on sunny afternoon or for a refreshing nap.

Well-thought-out shadow play

Anyone who still thinks parasols are just functional shade elements is mistaken. In the world of high-end outdoor living, the parasol has evolved into a fully-fledged design object. Brands such as Umbrosa, Fritz Hansen, Varaschin and Kettal combine aesthetics with innovations like built-in LED lighting, solar chargers and sensors that react to wind. Sustainable materials such as recycled fabrics, FSC wood and eco-aluminium set the tone. UV-resistant and biodegradable fabrics are also gaining in popularity. What’s the biggest asset on the patio? The ability to create adjustable shade, without obstructing the view.

Practical and forthright

Sun-seeking beauties for your patio: flower boxes are not just functional – they also make a style statement. Atelier Vierkant in Ostend creates handmade ceramic pots that unite architecture and nature. The wavy horizontals of their UZ series catch the eye whatever the setting. Prefer something more modular? Look no further than the wooden Grow collection from Squarely Copenhagen. It’s suitable for indoor and outdoor use, and the flower boxes also feature a clever self-watering system.

HK Living’s ethnically inspired cushions effortlessly add warm, retro tones that transform any outdoor space. The finishing touch? Subtle statement

When outdoor lighting can be a design statement, there is plenty of choice, but our favourite this season is the Parade Portable Lamp by HAY, designed by Viola Heyn-Johnsen and Jonas Trampedach. The LED light source in the geometric base gives the curved glass shade a floating effect. Intriguing on its own, dynamic in a group and just as strong when switched off. From bedroom to balcony, the rechargeable battery makes this a mobile compact lamp.
